KOLLAM: Another snakebite death has been reported in the state. The deceased has been identified as Rajendran (62), a native of Munroe Island in Kollam. He died early this morning while undergoing treatment.

The incident occurred last Friday night. Rajendran was staying at his daughter’s house in Arinalloor. After dinner, he stepped outside the house and was bitten by a snake when he picked up a blanket that was lying near the shed.

Rajendran, who had a visual impairment, did not notice the snake under the blanket. He was bitten by a viper. Family members immediately killed the snake and rushed him to a private hospital in Kollam. As his condition worsened, he was later shifted to the Medical College Hospital. Despite expert treatment, he died early this morning. The body will be handed over to relatives after post-mortem procedures.
