PARAVUR: Lulu Group Chairman MA Yusuff Ali extended a helping hand to a family facing eviction for failing to pay the loan. Sandhya and her two children faced foreclosure proceedings at their house in Paravur Vadakkekara.

Lulu Group will pay the family’s debt of Rs 8.25 lakh to the private financial institution. Lulu officials came to Sandhya's house and gave Rs.10 lakhs in one magnanimous deed. The helping gesture came when the family was sitting in front of the house with no idea what to do next.

In 2019, a family of three took a loan of Rs 4 lakh to construct a house allotted under the LIFE scheme. The loan repayment stopped in 2022 after Sandhya’s husband abandoned the family. According to residents, the foreclosure proceedings started when the family was away from the house. The family was even denied access to take their belongings from the house.

When the news caught headlines, the private financial institution changed its stance and said it would allow the family to take hold of their belongings. Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan contacted the family and assured help.
