KOLLAM: Unconfirmed reports say Mahila Congress leader R Reshmi is likely to join the BJP. It is heard that she will accept membership from BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar today. The state president is convening a press meet at Mararji Bhavan at 12 pm today. Rashmi's entry in BJP may be announced then.

Reshmi was the UDF candidate in Kottarakkara in 2021. She had been at odds with the party leadership since Ayesha Potty joined the Congress from the Left Front. There are reports that Congress leaders held discussions with Reshmi, but she did not give in.

Reshmi had put two conditions before the Congress. The demands were that the party should settle her financial liability incurred in the last election and that if the UDF comes to power, she should be given one of the board corporation posts. However, it is reported that the Congress leaders did not give a favorable response. Rashmi then stood firm on her decision to leave the party.

Director Akhil Marar, a former Youth Congress leader and party supporter, had joined the Twenty20, which is part of the NDA, the other day. Akhil wanted a seat in the UDF, but the leadership did not take a positive stand. It is reported that he then moved to the NDA.

Meantime, there are reports that senior CPM leader P K Sasi, who resigned from the post of KTDC chairman in Palakkad, may join the UDF. Reports say that he held talks with the UDF leaders.
