KOZHIKODE: Two police officials, absconding after being accused in the Malaparamba sex racket case, were taken into custody on Tuesday. Senior CPO Shaijith, a native of Perumanna and the driver of the police district headquarters, and CPO Sanith, a native of Kunnamangalam, Padanilam, have been arrested. The accused were taken into custody from Thamarassery.

They were hiding on the top floor of an uninhabited house in Thamarassery. The officials were travelling in a car owned by Raju, the husband of Bindu, the first accused in the case. The two were on the search for a new hiding spot when police ambushed them.

The investigating officer had filed a report in the court naming Shaijith and Sanith as accused in the sex racket case based around a residential apartment complex in Malaparamba. Nadakkavu police arrested Wayanad native Bindu, Idukki native Abhirami, and Karuvanthuruthy native Upesh in connection with the sex racket case the other day.

The police officers were caught after examining the phone records of the main accused. It was also found that a large amount of money had been transferred to their accounts from the operators.
