THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fort Police arrested a woman from Bengaluru for transporting MDMA to Kerala. Anu (22), a native of Pala, was arrested. Anu is a nursing student in Bengaluru.

The details about Anu came to light when police quizzed Muttathara native Gopakumar, who was caught with 32 grams of MDMA the other day. Subsequently, the investigation team led by Fort SHO Sivakumar reached Bengaluru and conducted searches focusing on the houses where the paying guests were staying. A clue was also received through their bank statements of the transaction. Anu was arrested after a three-day investigation.

The trick is to lure youngsters after interacting with them through social media. Initial friendship will soon be diverted into drug trafficking. Synthetic drugs are mostly used by people between the ages of 18 and 28. Synthetic drugs are in high demand as they are the easiest to use and provide a long-lasting effect of trance.

The price per gram ranges from Rs 2,000 to Rs 20,000. They reach the capital in large quantities by road. They are brought to Thiruvananthapuram from Bengaluru and Chennai and then taken to wholesale and retail trade areas in various places. From here, they are also smuggled to Sri Lanka by sea via Tuticorin.
