Man killed after coconut tree falls on scooter in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: A motorist died after a coconut tree fell on his scooter. The incident happened at Villiappally in Vadakara. The dead is Meethal Pavithran (64), staying near the Kottiyampally temple.

The incident happened this afternoon. While he was on his way to Villiappally town, an uprooted coconut tree fell on his scooter. The locals cut the coconut tree and then took Pavithran to the hospital. He had already died by then. He leaves behind his father Damodaran, mother Kunjimatha, wife Reetha and children Aishwarya and Aswathi.

As the monsoon has intensified in the state, there were extensive damages in various districts. A tree fell on a running train in Cheruthuruthy. More than ten houses in various districts were damaged by the falling trees. There were high waves in many places including Alappuzha and Thrikkunnapuzha. A lightning storm occurred at Kolpadasekhara in Thrissur. The pump house collapsed due to the cyclone.
