PALAKKAD: A man was delivered marble instead of the laptop he ordered online worth over Rs 40,000 through Amazon. A marble was delivered to Venugopal of Elambulassery in Palakkad. Venugopal's son-in-law placed an order for the laptop worth over Rs 40,000 through Amazon on April 26. It was delivered on May 1. However, since no one was at home, the packet was opened only on May 4.
'A laptop box was not inside when the pack was opened. Marble was seen when they opened the box,’ said Venugopal. When called the company, Amazon said they would investigate and inform by May 9 and after that will return the payment. However, when called on May 9th, they clarified that they had sent it as per normal delivery and would not refund the money.
In response to the complaint, Amazon told the consumer court that they do not manufacture or sell the laptop, and that they had delivered the item correctly, and that there are limitations on what they can do. Venugopal is demanding the company to deliver or refund the money spent for it.
