Man under treatment for food poisoning dies soon after discharge

KOCHI: A 57-year-old man, who was discharged from the hospital after undergoing treatment for food poisoning, died soon after reaching home. He has been identified as George of Chendamangalam in Paravur. He died last night. His body has been shifted to the hospital for post-mortem.

George fell ill after having food from the Majilis Hotel in Paravur. He had food from the hotel on January 16. He was admitted to a private hospital on January 19 for stomach ache. He was discharged on Friday.

Nearly 70 people who ate food from the Majilis Hotel had fallen ill. Soon after the incident, the health department had downed the shutters of the hotel and had also arrested the cook.
