
KANNUR: The entire staff, including the teachers, of the orthodontic department of Anjarakandy Dental College submitted their resignations in a surprise move amid an investigation into the death of Nithin Raj. However, it is reported that the college management has not accepted the resignation letters. There are a total of seven employees in the orthodontic department.
The teachers accused of the death of Nithin Raj, Dr M.K. Ram and Dr Sangeetha Nambiar, are still absconding. The police suspect that they may have left the state. They have filed an anticipatory bail application in the Thalassery District Sessions Court. The petition will be considered on the 22nd. The two, who went absconding after a case was registered under the abetment to suicide and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act, filed the petition through different lawyers. The Special Investigation Team announced that a lookout circular will be issued for both of them soon. Meanwhile, the anticipatory bail application of Dr Ram and Dr Sangeetha states that they had no role in Nithin Raj's death and cited the reason for the suicide to be the loan deals done through an online application.
The National Dental Commission sought a report from the principal on the death of Nithin Raj. A special team from the Health University conducted evidence collection at the college yesterday. The statements of first-year BDS students were also recorded.
