Minister G R Anil terms C Divakaran’s remarks as immature and baseless

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Food Minister G R Anil termed the remarks of CPI leader C Divakaran on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan as immature and baseless. The minister said Divakaran shouldn’t have said that on the tuna fish controversy. In an interview to a channel, Anil termed the remarks as immature, inappropriate, and not something a responsible political leader should have said.

‘Elders sometimes develop certain behaviors as they grow older. His response can be seen in that way. There is no need to give it undue importance. When someone is described as a senior leader of the party, their actions and responses should reflect that stature. If that does not happen, one only needs to see whether the party and the people continue to give them importance.”

The controversy arose after C Divakaran, while recounting his experiences as vice-captain alongside Pinarayi Vijayan during LDF’s Kerala Raksha Yatra, hinted about the tuna fish. He said that during the yatra, they visited the house of Anathalavattom Anandan to have lunch. The chief minister asked about the fish served. When heard that it was tuna (choora), Pinarayi got up and left without eating. Party leaders then became disturbed, fearing disciplinary action.

Divakaran added that the next day, they had food from Parassala. The district secretary then went to Palayam market at 5 am to buy seer fish (neymeen) to be served to the chief minister. The chief minister happily had food after knowing that the fish served was seer. This brought relief to the party leaders.
