Mobile phone recovered from Kannur Central Jail again; Seven phones seized in two weeks

KANNUR: A mobile phone was recovered from the central jail today. The phone was found hidden behind the new block. The Kannur Town Police have registered a case in the incident. The search in Kannur Central Jail has been tightened following the jailbreak of notorious criminal Govindachamy.

Seven mobile phones were recovered from the jail in the last two weeks. A mobile phone was recovered from U T Dinesh, an inmate of the new block two days ago. The phone was found hidden in the cell.

A youth from Panankavu was caught by the police last Sunday while trying to throw away mobile phones and narcotics. The police have received crucial information from him.

The arrested youth revealed that he was distributing goods from outside the jail. Outside aides throw necessary items from near the prison wall adjacent to the national highway. The first signal given is by throwing stones, and then mobile phones and drugs are thrown over the wall. They will be paid Rs 1000 to Rs 2000. Once the distribution is complete, the money is usually sent through Google Pay.
