
MALAPPURAM: Some shocking details have emerged in the incident of a 14-year-old girl, who was raped and murdered by a 16-year-old in Thodiyapulam. The information received is that the accused is a drug addict. A teacher of the school where the two study told media that the girl belonging to backward class and the accused were in a relationship. According to the initial information provided by the police, the murder happened between 6:30 pm and 9 pm last night. More clarity will be obtained only after getting the postmortem report.
The girl had called her parents and informed them that she was coming home. The phone was later found to be switched off. Her mother then filed a complaint at the Karuvarakundu police station. The police later registered a case and was investigating. The girl’s relatives also searched many places. In the meantime, her relatives reached the boy’s house. The accused told her relatives that she was with him till 6 pm and then left with someone else. They said that the accused spoke like a hard-core criminal and looked like a drug addict. The police are also investigating this matter.
The teachers said the accused had not gone to school after Christmas holidays. He was found to have gone for some work. The accused had gone to her house two days before the incident. Relatives said as they had warned the boy, he went to her house and before leaving threatened her family. Meantime, police said the accused strangled her to death in order to escape after raping her.
The body of the class 9 girl was found in a bush near the railway track between Vaniyambalam and Thodiyapulam this afternoon. The girl, who had gone to the school yesterday, had not returned home.
