KOCHI: There is a crucial turning point in the hijab controversy of St Rita's Public School in Palluruthy. The girl’s father Anas responded that his daughter is not interested in continuing in this school and the school authorities have not contacted her yet. The management has taken the stand that she can continue studies if she gives a consent form to come without a hijab.

Anas’ daughter, an eighth-class student, did not attend classes since the controversy. The reason cited was that she is down with fever. The student's father had accepted the school management's condition that she come without a hijab in an earlier consensus discussion. However, he later changed his stand.

Education Minister V Sivankutty had harshly criticised the management over the incident. His response was that there was an attempt to blame the government. The minister also accused the management of making a deliberate attempt to politicize the incident.
