UDIYANKULANGARA: Grave was demolished and the body was taken out for postmortem on the complaint of the son that there was a mystery in the death of his mother. The body was exhumed after the grave of Selinamma (75), a native of Dhanuvachapuram, was opened. Her son Raju had filed a complaint with the Parasala police alleging that Selinamma's jewellery was missing and that some of the injuries found on the body were suspicious. The RDO then ordered the grave to be opened.

Neyyattinkara DySP Shaji said that the initial examination showed no abnormality in the death and that a final conclusion can be reached only after the chemical test report of the internal organs comes. Selinamma was a former employee of Parasala Taluk Headquarters Hospital. She was found dead at home on the 17th. Selinamma's relatives buried her body in the church cemetery, considering it a natural death as she had a heart condition.

Before the body was buried, the relatives had handed over the gold ornaments worn by Selinamma to her son Raju. When Raju tried to sell these ornaments, it was found that the necklace was a fake. Raju then filed a complaint.

The police forensic team led by the RDO arrived at the cemetery in Pullantheri at around 11 am yesterday and took out the body and conducted an examination. Neyyattinkara DySP Shaji and Kollayil Grama Panchayat President Dr. NS Navaneethkumar led the postmortem. After the postmortem, the body was re-buried in the church cemetery according to religious rites.
