THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Some dramatic incidents were witnessed in the first press meet of Ravada A Chandrasekhar, soon after taking charge as the state’s new police chief. He entered inside posing as a journalist, reached near the DGP and raised a complaint. The DGP later assured him to look into the matter.
‘I had filed a complaint with the chief minister. I was in the police force for 30 years and am saying this out of pain. Give me an answer for this Sir, this is the pain I have been suffering for 30 years,’ he told the police chief showing some papers. The police then came and took him out of the hall. They are investigating how he entered inside. A person unexpectedly approaching the police chief with a complaint is being considered as security breach. An investigation has been launched into the incident. ADGPs H Venkatesh and S Sreejith were with the DGP. They also informed to look into the complaint.
He later told media that his name is Basheer V P and is a native of Kannur. He entered inside using a police ID. He is presently working in an online media located in the Gulf. He had worked as sub inspector in Kannur DIG office. He filed a complaint on the harassment towards him. He last worked at the Kannur airport. He also told media that he retired in 2023.
He also alleged that his name was misused in the movie Narivetta starring Tovino Thomas. 'In the movie that is presently in theatres, police officers used his name without his knowledge or consent related to Muthanga incident. There is a character named Basheer in the film. I had worked in Kannur DIG office at that time. My name was misused for the money given by the filmmakers without my knowledge or consent. The script of this movie was written by a policeman who worked in the police for some time and went into the illusory world of cinema. I was forcibly sent to the press meet venue while sitting in the visitors' room. I had no intention to disrupt the DGP's function,’ clarified the complainant.
