KANNUR: P P Divya, a member of the CPM Kannur District Committee and President of the District Panchayat, has come under intense scrutiny from pro-left cyber groups. She has been accused of arrogance and an obsession with luxury, particularly after the tragic death of ADM Naveen Babu, who was found dead shortly after being publicly criticized by Divya during a farewell ceremony.
The online backlash intensified following these events, with several pages claiming that Divya attended the farewell meeting uninvited and that her harsh comments contributed to the officer's mental distress, allegedly leading to his death. Divya's Facebook posts have since been flooded with critical comments, many condemning her actions. Meanwhile, T V Prakasan, a petrol pump entrepreneur, has accused ADM Naveen Babu of accepting bribes, which has become a key point in the defense put forth by some left-wing profiles.
Criticism has been particularly harsh in cyber groups like Payyannur Redsquad, with some commenting, "If pride were a person, it would be P P Divya." This is not the first time Divya has faced accusations of extravagance. When she served as vice-president of the district panchayat, she reportedly stirred controversy by insisting on acquiring a new Innova vehicle. Despite warnings from CPM District Secretary P. Jayarajan and the Kannur District Committee, her luxurious tendencies have persisted.
Further accusations from leftist groups demand an investigation into Divya's purchase of a flat in Kannur and her alleged investment in the Palakkayam Thattil resort. The slogan "Naveen's blood will follow you" has become a rallying cry on social media, with critics asserting that Divya's actions led to the officer's demise. They argue that if there was a legitimate complaint against the officer, it should have been handled through appropriate channels, not personal vendettas.
As of now, Divya has remained silent on the ongoing social media criticism, offering no response to the accusations against her.
