THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A total of 648 people are currently on the Nipah contact list across various districts in the state, Health Minister Veena George said on Friday. The list includes 110 people from Malappuram, 421 from Palakkad, 115 from Kozhikode, and one each from Ernakulam and Thrissur districts.
In Malappuram, 13 people are currently under treatment in isolation. So far, 97 samples from Malappuram have tested negative. Twenty-one people from Malappuram and twelve from Palakkad have completed their isolation period and have been removed from the contact list. In Palakkad, 17 people are undergoing treatment in isolation.
Statewide, 30 individuals are under observation in the "highest risk" category, while 97 are classified under the "high risk" category.
A high-level meeting was convened under the leadership of Minister Veena George. Attendees included the Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, the NHM State Mission Director, the Director of the Health Department, the Director of the Department of Medical Education, Additional Directors, District Collectors, District Medical Officers, police officers, and officials from various departments.
