No fishing activity these days in Kerala-Karnataka coasts, IMD issues warning

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department has said that fishing should not be done in Kerala coasts on Thursday and till the 15th of this month in the Karnataka coasts. There is no restriction on fishing on the shores of Lakshadweep.


Winds with a speed of 45 to 60 kmph are likely over the Kerala coast on Thursday and till the 13th in the Karnataka coast.


Strong winds and bad weather conditions are likely at 35 to 45 kmph over Kanyakumari coast, Gulf of Mannar and adjoining south Tamil Nadu coast and 45 to 55 kmph at occasional 65 kmph over Central-Eastern Arabian Sea. Strong winds and bad weather conditions with a speed of 45 to 55 kmph at occasional speed of 65 kmph are likely over Central East Arabian Sea and Central-West Bay of Bengal adjacent to Andhra Pradesh coast on August 13. On August 14, strong winds and bad weather conditions are possible over Andhra Pradesh coast adjoining central and western Bay of Bengal with a speed of 45 to 55 kmph.


Gusty winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph at occasional speed of 60 kmph and bad weather are likely over Andhra Pradesh coast, central-west Bay of Bengal and central-east Arabian Sea on August 15.


In this situation, District Collector Geromic George said that fishing should not be done in the above-mentioned areas on these specific date.
