THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram District Collector has issued an order imposing a 24-hour complete liquor ban and declaring a local holiday in connection with the famous Attukal Pongala. The restrictions will be in force across all 100 wards of the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation limits and in the Vellar ward of the Venganoor panchayat.

As per the order, the sale of liquor will be prohibited from Monday, March 2, until 6 pm on Tuesday, March 3.

In addition, a local holiday has been declared on March 3, the day of Pongala. All educational institutions, as well as government and semi-government offices in the district, will remain closed on that day, the order said.
