KANNUR: Payyannur MLA T.I. Madhusudhanan said that no embezzlement of money happened in the Dhanraj martyrs' fund. He denied the allegations raised by senior leader V. Kunhikrishnan.
"A committee, including Kunhikrishnan, decided to collect financial assistance for Dhanraj's family. The money was taken solely from party workers without the involvement of the general public." Madhusudhanan said that those making the allegations have a vested interest.
"All the money related to the fund was transferred through bank accounts. The figures have been presented at all levels of the party. Dhanaraj's family has no doubts about the funds. They are fully aware of the accounts. The martyrs' fund belongs entirely to that family, and we will protect the family in the future as well."
On the allegations of the money donated by bank employees gone missing, the MLA said that “the office construction fund was managed by retired bank officials from Payyannur. The money was collected by the party's local committees. Failure of proper auditing became a bane for the party. I faced disciplinary action for that."
The MLA alleged that the receipt had to be reprinted following a spelling error. "The only person to whom the receipt was not given, despite taking the money, is my mother. Kunhikrishnan is baying for my blood. If found to have siphoned money, I will end my political career. Anyone can check the sources of income."
The MLA said that the allegations have taken a toll on him mentally as well.
