THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following a dispute with BJP councillor and former DGP R Sreelekha, MLA VK Prasanth vacated his office in the corporation building in Sasthamangalam. The MLA opened his new office in Maruthamkuzhi, which comes with three rooms.
The MLA's previous office operated in the corporation building for seven years at a monthly rent of just Rs 850. In this context, new reports emerging said that the monthly rent of the new MLA office is Rs 15,000.
Prasanth announced yesterday that he would be vacating the office in Sasthamangalam, saying that he wishes not to aggravate the controversies. Councillor Sreelekha had earlier requested Prasanth vacate the MLA office in the building so she could set up hers and begin work.
Prasanth's office was operating in the corporation building in Sasthamangalam, the ward which Sreelekha won.
Earlier, Prasanth said he would continue until the lease period expired. Following the controversies, Sreelekha said she just requested the MLA to vacate and said she had no issues if Prasanth chose to continue in the office.
However, taking the controversy to a level higher, Sreelekha installed the councillor board with her name inscribed above the MLA board at the same office. Not long after the incident, Prasanth decided to vacate his office.
