'No resignation should be demanded over election defeat, not concerned about victory of UDF,' says CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that he should not be asked for resignation due to election defeat. The Chief Minister said that the election results should not be considered anti-left. He was replying to the opposition in the assembly.

'People only thought of keeping Modi aside. AK Antony resigned in 2004 not due to reduced seats but due to organizational problems in the Congress. Do not use this as an example to demand the resignation of the state government. I don't bother about your victory. What is worrying is how BJP won a constituency. The chief minister pointed out how the votes of the UDF, which won a great victory, decreased.

The 28-day session of the Legislative Assembly has begun to pass the full budget. It will end on July 25. From today till July 8, 13 days have been reserved for passing the money requests. Five days are fixed for non-official affairs and eight days for government affairs. The 4th session of the Loka Kerala Sabha is being held on 13th, 14th and 15th at Sankaranarayanan Thampi Members' Lounge in the Assembly Building. Assembly will not meet on these days.

Passing of Local Ward Division Bill which is politically crucial, in five minutes the other day was the cause of huge protests. The agenda was to be presented in the House and forwarding to the subject committee. Speaker A.N.Shamseer announced that the bill would be passed without discussion and without leaving it to the subject committee, while the opposition was creating a ruckus in the assembly over the emergency resolution related to the bar bribery allegation. Local Affairs Minister MB Rajesh introduced the bill and it was passed by a voice vote. Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan informed that he has given a letter objecting to the Speaker's action.
