THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There has been severe criticism against Mayor Arya Rajendran following the setback for the LDF in the corporation. Allegations were also made on social media that the defeat in the election was due to the mayor's administrative flaws. Former Vanchiyoor councillor Gayathri Babu had also shared a post on Facebook about the flaws in Arya's administration. Now Arya has responded through her WhatsApp status. She shared two pictures with the caption 'Not an inch back'.
Gayatri Babu criticized Arya without mentioning her name. Gayatri Babu had written on Facebook that she pretended to be bigger than the party and that she had changed her office to focus on career building. "If time was taken to focus on career building, instead of the contempt for those who are lower in authority and the extreme humility only when meeting those who are higher in authority, if they had been willing to meet people who came out to see them, if they had at least shown consideration to listen to the demands of local leaders and comrades, and if they had built a good team within the council itself, at least the backlash would not have been this severe," Gayathri Babu wrote. Gayathri Babu was also the chairperson of the health standing committee in Arya Rajendran's council. Gayathri withdrew the post after it became controversial.
Meanwhile, Minister V Sivankutty had responded to the allegations levelled against Arya. Sivankutty's response was that no one should try to blame Arya for the defeat in the corporation. The minister also said that Arya's work in Thiruvananthapuram was exemplary.
