THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has applauded Kannur on winning the Kerala Kalolsavam title after 23 years. He said that others should grow by following Kannur as a model.
"I have no problem with Kannur. I don't have any personal objection towards the district. I had only expressed sympathy for some past situations," the Governor said.
The Governor had earlier sparked a controversy with his 'bloody Kannur' remark following the SFI's protest against him at Calicut University. He said that Kannur had a bloody history. Widespread protests had erupted in Kannur and other parts of the state in the matter. Several leaders, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, had come down heavily on the Governor. However, the Governor was not ready to apologise or respond regarding the matter. The Governor came out with the explanation after Kannur won the title in the Kerala Kalolsavam today.
