KANNUR: CPM state committee member P Jayarajan visited the Periya double murder case convicts in Kannur Central Jail. He met five convicts. He also presented his own book 'Keralam: Muslim Rashtreeyam Rashtreeya Islam' to them.

'Prisons are not new for communists. No one should think that they can intimidate by showing jail," P Jayarajan responded to the media. "CPM wants to end political murders. Many incidents of violence are happening in the society. This should not happen. But when communists are killed, the media does not cover it. Do you think CPM members should be killed? In many court verdicts, many have been ruled innocent by approaching the higher courts. Similarly, the accused have informed that they will fight in this case too. I am not commenting on the details of the case."- P Jayarajan said. Jayarajan said that he visited the convicts as a member of the Jail Advisory Committee.

In the presence of P Jayarajan, activists greeted the convicts including former Udma MLA KV Kunhiraman with slogans. Accused 1 to 8 and the 10th accused in the Periya case were brought to Kannur late today. The rest of the accused were brought to Kannur Central Jail from Kakkanad Jail about an hour after nine people including Peethambaran were brought from Viyoor.
