Paravur food poisoning: License of Majlis hotel suspended, 189 establishments were inspected on Tuesday

KOCHI: Minister Veena George said that the license of Majlis Hotel, which reported food poisoning in Paravur, has been suspended. Earlier, the Food Safety Commissioner was directed to conduct an urgent inspection of the hotel and submit a report. The action was taken based on this.

The Food Safety Department inspected a total of 189 establishments on Tuesday. Two establishments that were operating in unhygienic conditions and without licenses were shut down. Notices were issued to 37 establishments. As many as 68 people who ate from Majlis Hotel in Paravur sought treatment at the hospital after feeling unwell. Of these, 28 people sought treatment at Paravur Taluk Hospital, 20 at a private hospital, and three at Kalamassery Medical College. Others sought treatment at hospitals in Kozhikode and Thrissur. It is reported that the condition of a young woman admitted to the medical college is critical.
