People asked to be vigilant for next five days; IMD puts nine districts on yellow alert

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that heavy rains will continue in the state for five days. It has been predicted that heavy rains are likely in various districts from today to July 16.


In this situation, a yellow alert has been sounded in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod today and tomorrow. A yellow alert has been issued in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on July 13 and in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on July 14 and July 15.

People should be especially alert as strong winds gusting to 45 to 55 kmph and occasionally up to 65 kmph are possible over the central-western Arabian Sea, adjoining central-eastern Arabian Sea, northern parts of the southwestern Arabian Sea, and southern parts of the northwest Arabian Sea.
