KOLLAM: Kollam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge KV Naina has ordered that the hair of the accused, who is on remand in jail, should not be cut to avoid him losing the opportunity in the film industry. The order came on a petition filed by actor RS Jyothi, who is in remand in a case of sexual assault on a woman passenger on a train.
On Tuesday, Kollam district jail authorities had tried to cut the neck-level long hair of Jyothi, who was remanded 13 days ago. Though the accused said that he wanted long hair as he had to play the role of a villain in a Tamil film that will start shooting soon, the jail authorities remained firm on their stand. Jyothi said this when his wife came to meet her in jail soon after. His wife then hired a lawyer.
Though the prosecutor argued that Jyothi's hair should be cut citing the jail manual, the court directed that the accused should not miss the opportunity in the film industry. Advocates Venu J Pillai, Vysakh V Nair and S Sreejith appeared for the accused.
