Police SI stabbed by goon during night patrolling in Poojappura

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A sub-inspector in Poojappura was stabbed by a local goon during night patrolling on Thursday. SI Sudheesh's right hand was bruised in the attack. The incident took place at around 9:30 last night.

Sreejith Unni, a goon and history-sheeter, created a ruckus near the Vijayamohini mill on Thursday night in an inebriated state. After learning about the incident, Sudheesh and other officers came to the spot and tried to take Sreejith into custody.

Sreejith, seeing the police, tried to run away while Sudheesh grabbed him. The accused stabbed the SI at this point. Sudheesh sustained a deep wound on his hand. Sreejith Unni fled after the attack. The police have intensified the search for the accused. The SI is undergoing treatment at the hospital. Sreejith Unni is accused in several criminal cases.
