THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the privacy of informers who provide tip-offs related to the drug trade will be ensured and warned police officials of dismissal from service if they breach this pact. The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating the state-level celebration of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and the beginning of the fifth phase of 'No to Drugs'.
'Break the chains, restore prevention, treatment and recovery for all' is the main slogan of this year's Anti-Drug Day celebration.
“We must be able to break the gangs that are trying to trap children. For this, Kerala will organise extensive programs. The fifth phase will last until January 30, 2026. The first mission is to create a drug-free family. Awards will be given on a taluk basis to the residence associations that carry out excellent anti-drug activities. Teachers should not hesitate to monitor children and check their bags if they are suspicious.” Said CM Pinarayi Vijayan.
The Chief Minister released 10 books published by the Kerala State Institute for Children's Literature to promote reading habits among children and create awareness about the aspects of addiction. Minister M.B. Rajesh presided over the event. Ministers V. Sivankutty, G.R. Anil, R. Bindu, Veena George, V.K. Prashanth MLA, District Panchayat President Suresh Kumar, Ad. Chief Secretary Jyotilal, Additional Excise Commissioner K.S. Gopakumar, Palliyara Sreedharan and others were present.
