KOCHI: The government has filed an appeal against the trial court verdict in the actress assault case, alleging that actor Dileep's belief that the actress was the reason for the breakdown of his marriage motivated him to commit the crime. The appeal also states that Dileep paid a large amount of money to the quotation gang for this. The government has filed the appeal while the appeals of the main accused, including Pulsar Suni, who were sentenced to 20 years in prison, are pending.
The prosecution has proven that Dileep publicly threatened the 'Athijeevitha' and that actor Siddique intervened. There are statements from Manju Warrier, Geetu Mohandas, Samyuktha Varma and others that Dileep tried to keep the actress out of the film industry. Suni's letters have mentioned the conspiracy that Dileep and Suni planned in room number 410 of Abad Plaza, Ernakulam, in 2013.
After the meeting at Thrissur Joyce Palace Hotel in November 2015, money was withdrawn from Grand Productions' account and deposited in Suni's mother's account. The two also met on the locations of the films 'Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan' and 'Georgettan's Pooram'. There are eyewitness accounts that the two were seen talking at the Kinattingal Tennis Academy. The verdict of the Ernakulam Principal District Sessions Court was on December 12, 2025. The actress was attacked on February 17, 2017.
