KANNUR: TK Govindan, who was a member of the Kannur district secretariat for nine years and a member of the district committee for over 25 years, was expelled from CPM. The party's district secretary, KK Ragesh, announced this at a press conference. He also responded to the allegations made by TK Govindan against CPM state secretary MV Govindan. MV Jayarajan also attended the press conference.

“PK Shyamala’s candidature was a party decision. She has a lot of experience and exceptional organisational skills. TK Govindan went against the party by announcing himself as the candidate. Govindan cannot be called a communist. He has become a pawn of the UDF. TK Govindan is very obsessed with power,” KK Ragesh criticised in strong language.

“PK Shyamala had no role in the death of Anthoor Sajan, and the investigation was conducted taking into account the feelings of the family. The government provided all support to Sajan's initiative. It was the officials who raised the shortcomings of the convention centre,” said MV Jayarajan.

On Monday, TK Govindan came out in protest against the nomination of PK Shyamala, wife of CPM state secretary MV Govindan, as a candidate in the party bastion Taliparamba. TK Govindan alleged that Shyamala was declared a candidate without considering the objections raised within the party.
