THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 19-year-old girl, who was pushed off a moving train by a drunkard in Varkala, has been shifted to a private hospital in Kochi. The girl, who was undergoing treatment, was shifted to Kochi at the request of her family.
Sreekutty of Nandiyodu, who was seriously injured after falling from the train, has been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital for the past one and a half months. Sreekutty has not yet regained consciousness. Sreekutty was shifted to a private hospital in Kochi yesterday for specialist treatment.
The accused identified as Suresh Kumar pushed her out from the Kerala Express train when she was travelling to Thiruvananthapuram from Ernakulam. He kicked her, who was sitting at the door of the general compartment, out of the train for questioning his smoking. He also tried to push Archana, friend of Sreekutty.
Archana was rescued by Shankar Paswan of Bihar, who came there after hearing the commotion. He is also the main witness in the case. The police found Shankar after an investigation that lasted for several days. It was only when the police examined the CCTV footage that it was noticed that Shankar risked his own life to save the girl.
