THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday heaped praise on Malayali cricketer Sanju Samson for his performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Rahul Gandhi was speaking after inaugurating the concluding public meeting of the Puthuyuga Yatra at Putharikkandam Maidan in Thiruvananthapuram.
“I would like to congratulate Sanju Samson, who is from Thiruvananthapuram. Many Malayalis are the pride of our country,” Rahul Gandhi said.
He also said he was happy to take part in the yatra organised by the UDF.
“I am happy that I could participate in this journey. It helped me listen to the people of Kerala. Through this yatra, we were able to understand what the people of Kerala want and what their dreams are for the future of the state. Kerala is one of the most beautiful states in our country,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi also spoke about global tensions, saying it is uncertain when the conflict between the United States and Iran will end, and that people should remain cautious.
Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the agricultural sector in India has been opened up to the United States and that the government is deceiving the people of the country.
He also claimed that the “Epstein files” are behind many developments and alleged that Prime Minister Modi fears the files becoming public.
Rahul Gandhi further questioned why agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) frequently take action against opposition leaders.
“There are 36 cases against me. Why is there no ED action against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family? The BJP and the CPM are working together in Kerala. In Kerala, it is not CPM and BJP, but ‘CJP’. Everyone knows they are partners,” Rahul Gandhi said.
