KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode Medical College has suspended 11 second-year students who ragged first-year students. The suspension is for 14 days. The incident took place a week ago. The students had not filed a complaint. The matter came to light after a discussion took place about this in a WhatsApp group joined by their parents. The parents filed a complaint with the principal. Following this, a five-member investigation committee was formed with the anatomy department head as the chairman.

The decision to suspend 11 students involved in this incident was based on the report submitted by the investigation committee. The report has been handed over to the Medical College Police for further action. No case has been registered at present. Medical College ACP Umesh said that after examining the report, they will investigate whether more people were involved in the incident. An anti-ragging squad meeting was held in the college. Four security personnel were specially appointed in the college to prevent acts including ragging. Medical College Principal Dr. K.G. Sajith Kumar said that legal action has been taken on the complaint about ragging.
