
ALAPPUZHA: Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi visited the Sivagiri Mahasamadhi in Varkala. After visiting the Mahasamadhi(final resting place of Sree Narayana Guru), Rahul visited the Sarada Mutt and the Vedic Mutt, where the historic Gandhi-Gurudeva meeting took place. Rahul spent about three and a half hours in Sivagiri and also met the monks.
Sree Narayana Dharma Sanghom Trust President Swami Sachidananda, General Secretary Swami Shubhangananda, Treasurer Swami Sharadananda, Swami Gyan Tirtha, and Swami Asangananda Giri received Rahul Gandhi. MPs KC Venugopal, Adoor Prakash, MLAs PC Vishnunath, Chandy Oommen and others accompanied Rahul.
Dharma Sanghom Trust President Swami Sachidananda said that he had informed Rahul about Sivagiri's stand on the assembly elections and state politics. Concerns regarding backward classes being left behind by the mainstream political outfits were discussed, and Rahul was asked to resolve the issues. Swami Sachidananda gave Rahul a written request to allocate seats to backward classes in constituencies where they have a chance of winning. Swami Sachidananda said that the Mutt didn’t suggest any names or constituencies. Swami Sachidananda also said that Rahul Gandhi has accepted their suggestions.
