
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil filed an anticipatory bail plea in the sexual abuse case. He filed the bail plea in Thiruvananthapuram district court. Rahul's move comes after the police registered a case and took swift action to arrest him. He said that he was in a cordial relationship with her for a long time. Rahul said in the plea that he had not raped her as claimed by her.
Rahul also rejected the allegation that he forced her to adopt. Rahul said that he will cooperate with the investigation. His plea stated that there are political interests behind the complaint. The petition is likely to be considered tomorrow morning. Meantime, the police is of the belief that Rahul is likely to leave Kerala.
A case has been registered against Rahul at the Valiyamala police station in Thiruvananthapuram. The case has been handed over to the Nemom police station. The case has been filed under non-bailable sections including rape on pretext of marriage and forced abortion. The sections can carry a sentence of imprisonment from ten years to life.
Meantime, it is reported that a special team will be appointed to investigate the case related to Rahul. The case will be investigated by a team led by Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner Thomson Jose. The team includes a DCP and an assistant commissioner. It is reported that the order will be issued soon.
There are serious allegations in the FIR against Rahul. The FIR says that she was taken to Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad and raped and shot her private intimate images after threatening her. The FIR also says that she was raped even after she became pregnant and was brutally beaten when resisted.
