
NEW DELHI: The Congress has filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer against Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the BJP candidate from Nemom, alleging that he concealed details of his assets in the affidavit submitted along with his nomination papers. In its complaint, the Congress claimed that a luxury bungalow worth around Rs 200 crore was not mentioned in the affidavit.
The allegation refers to a large bungalow in Koramangala Third Block in Bengaluru, with an area of about 49,000 square feet. However, the affidavit states that Rajeev Chandrasekhar and his wife together own assets worth Rs 111.11 crore. Of this, Rs 93.88 crore belongs to Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Rs 18.10 crore to his wife. The complaint also notes that this property was mentioned in his 2024 affidavit.
The affidavit lists a house in Koramangala, Karnataka, worth Rs 15.07 crore with an area of 9,600 square feet. It also includes gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 3.58 crore, a 1942 model car valued at Rs 10,000, and Rs 5 lakh received as interest income.
In addition, he has investments worth Rs 35.83 crore in shares, debentures, and bonds, fixed deposits worth Rs 4.37 crore in banks, and loans worth Rs 34.96 crore given through institutions. He also holds Rs 64,100 in cash. According to his income tax returns, his annual income is Rs 92.91 lakh.
His wife, Anju, has an annual income of Rs 60.50 lakh. Her total assets are valued at Rs 18.10 crore, including jewellery worth Rs 9.08 crore, and she has Rs 3.40 lakh in cash. The affidavit also shows liabilities of Rs 107.39 crore for Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Rs 1.62 crore for his wife, including loans.
