KOCHI: Ramachandran, the Malayali killed in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, will be laid to rest in Kochi on Friday. Ramachandran of Edappally in Kochi was killed in the terrorist attack on Tuesday. The body kept in the morgue of a private hospital in Ernakulam, was brought to Changampuzha Park in Edappally at 7 am. Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai, Minister P Rajeev, Kochi Mayor M Anil Kumar, Ernakulam collector N S K Umesh, actor Jayasurya and many others paid homage to the body.
The funeral will be laid to rest at the Edappally crematorium this afternoon. He was shot dead when he was vacationing in Kashmir along with his wife, daughter and grandsons in Kashmir. The trip was planned after his daughter Arathy arrived from Dubai.
Ramachandran was shot dead by terrorists in front of his daughter Arathy. She said the terrorists may have spared her as her twin sons were crying. She ran from the spot with her sons through the forests. She said that her mobile phone got range after running for half an hour.
The army and the locals came to her rescue after she informed her driver. Arathy also said that the terrorist who shot her father to death was not in military uniform. While speaking to the media, she said the locals of Kashmir stood by her in her moments of pain.
