IDUKKI: Rapper Vedan is all set to perform at the government’s anniversary celebrations in Idukki tomorrow. This will be Vedan's first performance after arrested in the ganja and tiger tooth cases and granted bail. Popular singer Hirandas Murali, fondly known as Rapper Vedan, has been granted a stage again at government’s Ente Keralam expo in Idukki.
The event in Idukki was canceled following his arrest in the ganja case. However, days after he was granted bail, the government has again given him a stage. Vedan's show will be held at the Vazhathope School Ground tomorrow evening.
Vedan was to perform in Idukki on April 29th. The event was in connection with the fourth anniversary celebrations of the government. Vedan was arrested by the police with ganja on April 24th. He was later arrested in the tiger tooth case. The district administration then decided to cancel his event. The government decided to give him a stage when the singer was released on bail. A meeting of the authorities is also being held today to make further preparations for the event.
Meantime, the chief minister had assured yesterday that the government would not deny him stages. The assurance was given when a team led by Kerala Dalit Federation state president P Ramabhadran and Secretary Dr Vineetha Vijayan came to submit a memorandum demanding that the case registered against the singer by the forest department be withdrawn and action be taken against the Kodanad Range Forest Officer who made racial slurs referring to his mother, a Sri Lankan, came to meet the chief minister.
