THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister P. Rajeev made history on the last day of the assembly, before the session was adjourned early due to opposition uproar. Minister Rajeev introduced and passed 5 bills on Thursday. This is the first time in the history of the assembly that a minister has achieved this feat.

Minister Rajeev introduced the Single Dwelling Protection Bill (an important bill of the second Pinarayi government), the Kerala Industrial Single Window Clearance Boards and Industrial Town Development Amendment Bill, the Malayalam Language Bill, the Right to Public Service Bill, and the Digital Science and Technology University (Amendment) Bill. Since the Chief Minister was absent, bills from other departments under the CM’s charge were also included in this.

The Single Dwelling Protection Bill protects families against losing their homes due to mortgage non-repayment. This is on condition that the loan repayment amount should not exceed Rs. five lakh.
