Refrigerator explodes at house in Thiruvananthapuram; kitchen completely destroyed

KARIAVATTOM: A refrigerator exploded and caused a fire at a house in Kariavattom, Thiruvananthapuram, on Saturday afternoon. The incident took place at a house within the Kariavattom campus, where a group of female students reside. The explosion completely destroyed the kitchen area.

The students noticed smoke coming from the fridge while they were cooking. They immediately left the house and switched off the electricity.

Soon after, the fridge exploded. Fortunately, no one was hurt. A fire and rescue team from Kazhakkoottam reached the spot and quickly put out the fire. According to initial reports, the blast may have been caused by a short circuit or a fault in the refrigerator’s electrical system.
