BENGALURU: Reports say C J Roy, chairman of the Confident Group, had wished to talk to his mother before taking his own life. Further details about the incident on the day of his death have been revealed in a complaint filed by Confident Group Managing Director T A Joseph at the Ashok Nagar Police Station.
Roy arrived at the office along with T A Joseph to give a statement to income tax officials last afternoon at around 3 pm. Roy then went to his cabin and expressed a wish to talk to his mother. Joseph stepped out, but when he returned a short while later, security personnel did not allow him to enter the cabin. They explained that Roy had directed them not to allow anyone inside.
Joseph reached the cabin again and knocked on the door, but there was no response. The cabin was locked from inside. The door was then broken open. Roy was found seated in his chair with blood strains on his shirt. Medical staff found no pulse. An ambulance was immediately called and he was taken to the hospital. Reports say Roy used a gun fitted with a silencer to end his life.
Following complaints from his family and the company alleging severe mental pressure from officials, the government has directed that the investigation be handed over to the Karnataka CID. Roy died by suicide around 3.15 pm yesterday at the Confident Group’s corporate office near Richmont Circle on Hosur Road in Bengaluru.
