Salaam who used to collect scraps is now a superstar on ramp

KOLLAM: Cameraman Sajid was searching for the perfect "local man" for the inauguration of a beauty parlour in Paravur. That was when he saw Salaam (65), who used to collect scraps. 'Long beard, cropped hair, dirty clothes.. this man will be perfect If given a makeover, he will be perfect for the opening of the beauty parlour!' Sajid thought.

Thus, Salaam underwent a complete transformation at the Bridal Studio in Paravur. His life completely changed after the opening of the beauty parlour. He was then invited to inaugurate a jewellery shop. His fashion videos went viral on Instagram. Salaam became a shining star on the ramp of Lulu Fashion Week in Thiruvananthapuram.

Salaam is a native of Dhavalakkuzhi in Mayyanadu in Kollam. He runs a scrap shop along with his son-in-law in Manjadimukku. Sajid, who turned Salaam into a model, followed him for one and a half months clicking his pictures. One day, Sajid got acquainted with Salaam and told him about his idea. He then invited Salaam to his studio. The photoshoots in which Salaam appeared wearing stylish costumes were shot in Paravur and Kappil. Sajid later made a reel video of the photoshoot and posted it on Instagram. This video became trending in no time. The video caught the attention of Lulu Fashion Week officials. They contacted Sajid and asked him to come to Kochi with Salaam.

22 people including six women of various ages reached Thiruvananthapuram on the 17th. After training, they walked the ramp on the 18th. This video also went viral. Now, several people are gathering around Salaam near his shop and other places to take selfies with him.
