Samasta Vice President UM Abdurahman Maulavi passes away

KASARAGOD: Samastha Kerala Jamiyathul Ulama Vice President U M Abdurahman Moulavi (86) passed away in Mogral Kadavath Darussalam. He passed away at around 9.15 am today. Abdurahman Moulavi had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kasaragod for the past week. He was shifted to his residence yesterday after his condition did not improve.

Abdurahman Moulavi was born on November 2, 1939, to Abdul Qadir and Khadija. After schooling, he received his Baqavi education at Moulavi Fall between 1963 and 1964 and pursued religious studies at Parangipetta Jama Masjid, Mangalore, Azhariyya College, Karuvanthiruthy, Padanna Jama Masjid, Kondotty Pazhyangadi Jama Masjid, and Vellore Bakhiyath Salihath.

Abdurahman Moulavi became a member of the Samastha Kendra Mushavara in 1992. Since 1991, he has been a member of the Samastha Kerala Islamic Religious Education Board, a member of the Samastha Kasaragod District Mushavara, a member of the SYS State Council, a member of the Samastha Kasaragod District General Secretary, a chairman of the SMF Manjeswaram Mandal, and a member of the Samastha Kasaragod Taluk General Secretary since 1974.

Currently, he was working as the President of Badiyadka Kanniyat Academy, a member of the Senate of Chemmad Darul Islamic University, and the Vice President of Nileshwaram Markazudda'wa. He had conducted dars at Kumbala Jama Masjid, Ichilangod Jama Masjid, Mogral Jama Masjid, Thrikaripur Beericheri Jama Masjid, Puthiyangadi Jama Masjid, Kalanad Hydros Jama Masjid, and Valvakkad Jama Masjid.

Wives: Sakiyya, late Maryam.

Children: Muhammadali Shihab, Fallur Rahman, Nurul Amin, Abdullah Irfan, Shahirali Shihab (all Gulf), Khadija, Maryam Shahina (Nahlam Mile), late Muhammad Mujeeb Rahman, Ayishatushahida (Cheroor).

In-laws: U.K. Moideen Kutty Maulavi (Mogral), C.A. Abdulqader Haji (Saudi), E. Ahmed Haji (Cheroor), Khajeeda (Alampadi), Misriya (Kodiyamma), Safina (Thalangara), Misriya (Peral Kannur), Jasira (Muttathody), Jumana (Mogral).
