Scolded for not cutting hair, boy leaves home, says father

PALAKKAD: The police have intensified search for the ten-year-old boy who went missing from Kollengode. Athul Priyan of Seetharkundu, went missing early Monday morning. The police said the child is in Palakkad city only.

Meantime, his father Shanmukhan came forwarding explaining the reason for his son leaving home. He said that his son left the house following a fight over not cutting his hair. Shanmukhan said that when he woke up at 5 in the morning, his son was missing.

Athul went in the two-wheeler that was parked home. The boy later parked the vehicle at the junction near the house. Athul had written in one of his books that he is leaving home as his father scolded him for not cutting his hair. Shanmukhan said that he had also mentioned in the letter that he had taken Rs 1000 from his mother's bag and said that he would call his mother if he needed anything.

The police said the letter said that Athul left home following a fight with his father. The Kollengode police registered a case and has started an investigation.
