Setback for Rahul Easwar, leaves him in police custody, detailed probe to be conducted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rahul Easwar, who cyberattacked the woman for filing a sexual harassment complaint against Rahul Mamkootathil MLA, is in police custody. Rahul will remain in police custody until tomorrow evening. The city cyber police had filed a three-day custody plea in the Thiruvananthapuram District Sessions Court.


Rahul Easwar had filed a bail plea today, but it will be heard only after his custody ends. The bail application will be heard after the custody ends. The police claim that there is a conspiracy behind Rahul making continuous videos for Rahul MLA. Therefore, more evidence is needed and the police had requested in the application that Rahul be brought to his office to collect evidence. When Rahul was taken into custody, bailable sections were charged. Non-bailable sections were charged after conducting a detailed investigation. Rahul himself requested that he be produced in the open court.


Rahul was arrested in the case on Sunday evening. The case includes charges of insulting womanhood and intimidation. Misuse of electronic devices has also been charged. It is an offense that can lead to imprisonment for up to two years. The cyber police took action based on a complaint filed by the woman, citing the disclosure of personal information. He was taken into custody from his residence at 5 pm and taken to the cyber police station and police training college in Nandavanam AR camp and questioned for about four hours. His arrest was recorded at 9 pm.
