THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Travancore Devaswom Board President K. Jayakumar has announced that a Kerala-style sadya will be served on alternate days at Sabarimala. Pulao and the traditional Kerala sadya will be served on rotating days. The Devaswom Commissioner has been assigned the responsibility of making additional arrangements, as decided in today’s Devaswom Board meeting. Jayakumar said there are no legal issues in purchasing supplies under the existing tender. He also stated that the Annadanam fund currently has nine crore rupees.
Earlier, the plan was to start serving the Kerala sadya from December 2. However, the decision was postponed as the preparations were not complete. A special committee was appointed to examine the legal issues. The final decision was taken in the subsequent meeting.
The sadya will include seven items: parippu (dal), sambar, avial, thoran, pappadam, and payasam. The feast will be served from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., and steel plates and glasses will be used.
