KOZHIKODE: Widespread protests against Shafi Parambil MP in Vadakara. DYFI activists staged protests against Shafi, accusing him of protecting Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil. With this, he got out of the car and clarified that he did not intend to leave out of fear.
'Did you think that I will go if hurled abuses. I am not that kind of a person. If you want to strike, do it. Did you think that you could scare me away, you should look for someone else for that. I don’t intend to leave fearing anyone. Those who want to protest can do it. I respect that right. But if you say something inappropriate, if you call me a dog, don’t think I will leave ignoring it.
I have also protested and I have seen it. But if you call me a dog, I will not go out of fear. We are not afraid of protests. We don’t intend to question the right to protest, but don’t use bad words in the name of protest.
I told police that no one should sustain any injuries, and asked them to stop the vehicle so that they wouldn't get hit and get hurt. I have said that. If someone comes in between and calls dog, you should look for someone else to listen. No matter what big protesters come. I don't intend to run away from Vadakara like that. I'll be here,’ said Shafi Parambil.
