NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has granted bail to four RSS workers accused in the murder of SDPI worker Shan in Alappuzha. The bail was granted by a bench headed by Justice Deepankar Dutt.
Earlier, the Kerala High Court had revoked their bail. The Supreme Court has now granted bail by cancelling this order. The four who received bail are Abhimanyu, Athul, Sanand, and Vishnu. They have been granted bail on conditions that they should not influence witnesses, and the trial court has the authority to impose additional conditions if necessary.
Previously, the Sessions Court had granted bail to all nine accused in Shan’s murder case. The High Court later cancelled the bail of four individuals who were directly involved in the crime. Athul, Abhimanyu, and Sanand had approached the Supreme Court against this decision.
Shan, an SDPI leader, was murdered on December 18, 2021, at Mannancherry in Alappuzha. The next morning, BJP leader Ranjith Srinivasan was also killed at his residence in Alappuzha. 15 accused in the case had been sentenced to death by the trial court.
